Welcome to Day 1 of the olympiad. Today's four problems each hand you a different kind of raw signal — video, audio, high-dimensional vectors, and text — and ask you to pull structure out of it. Solve them in any order; each task is scored independently. For each task you may choose up to 2 submissions to count toward your final score — if you don't choose, your 2 best by public score are taken. Submissions are limited to one per minute per task. Good luck.

  • A — The Mysterious Shooting Ride. Watch the ride's camera and predict exactly where to aim: your shot must land on the target as it appears a few frames later, after the ride's firing delay.
  • B — Keyboard Activities. Listen to a short recording of someone typing and decide what they're doing — writing code or writing prose — from the sound of the keystrokes alone.
  • C — Dimensionality Reduction. Compress 128-dimensional data down to the smallest representation you can, then reconstruct it with as little distortion as possible.
  • D — Smart Router. Score each document by how likely it is to still contain leaked personal data, so the scarce extra-review budget goes to the riskiest cases first.
